Hi, I'm Joseph Colaneri (Joe)
and I'm a composer, copyist, and music educator based in New York City, whose work bridges classical and contemporary styles with a deep focus on storytelling. My compositions; ranging from theatrical works to choral and instrumental pieces, explore themes of activism, identity, and sensory experience.
I currently hold a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Belmont University and am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Music Education at CUNY Hunter College. In addition to my creative work, I am an active educator who regularly teaches and mentors young musicians through my work with Education Through Music, a nonprofit organization that partners with under-resourced schools to make music a core subject for all students. I have also previously volunteered at institutions such as the W.O. Smith School of Music, where I supported young musicians in developing their musical skills and creativity.
Currently, I am developing "Bluebirds", an original musical co-created with JQ Hennessey, further expanding my voice in the world of music theater. As both an artist and educator, I am committed to crafting meaningful musical experiences that connect, challenge, and inspire.
